Look 2010
The camp plans are well under way. The camp activities have been split into to 5 different zones which the Guides and senior section are all going to be able to take part in.
These are just a few of the activities being planned for Guides during the day at Look 2010 which we’d hate you to miss! There will be plenty more for our day visitors from all sections to see and experience too.
Look Wide – Forget what it’s like to be so dependant on electricity in modern living and spend a day learning survival skills, fire lighting and building shelters at the Jarman Centre. Experience camping as Guides would have done 50 years ago and enjoy lunch cooked over a traditional fire.
Look Into - The Look Into zone is the place to get creative. Leave your best camp memories on our Centenary Memory net, join together to create lasting artwork for others to enjoy or spend some time learning new crafts and indulging in your favourite. When you've finished 'being arty' come and make some noise in our music area - no rhythm or musicality required!!!
Look Around - Leave your mark on the environment in a positive way by contributing to a lasting conservation project at Milton Country Park . Learn about orienteering from experts. Alternatively explore the wider world without leaving the camp site.
Look Out - 'An adrenaline filled day in the adventure zone - challenge yourself to go higher, faster, further. Test your skill when trying to shoot on target in archery and air rifles. Test your nerve on the climbing wall or the high ropes course. Try not to get wet sailing, canoeing or kayaking. Try a new sport or improve at one you've tried before. Activities we hope to offer include: Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing, Climbing, High Ropes, Skiiing, Archery, Air Rifles to name but a few
Look at Me - After a few hectic days, indulge in some ‘me time’ and use the opportunities offered to consider your inner health. Take some time to chill out by pampering yourself, and boost your health by some gentle exercise, before cooling off in the swimming pool.
Day Visits
Its not just Guides and Senior Section that can come to the camp. Rainbows and Brownies are able to come and visit for the day to see what a Guide camp is like and take part in the activities on site. Please see the forms page for the day visitors form.
There is also the opportunity for Guides and Senior Section to come out for the day or along to the evening activities. Please see the forms page for the day visitors form.
Individual adults and Senior Section members:
We still need more helpers in all areas for a couple of hours including evenings and pitch and strike days up to the whole week. No special skills needed - whatever you can do will be gladly accepted. Please e-mail
