Girlguiding Cambridgeshire East
Welcome to Girlguiding Cambridgeshire East
A message from the County Commissioner, Sue Carpenter...
Cambridgeshire East is one of the twelve Counties that makes up Girlguiding Anglia, and is itself comprised of eight Divisions that stretch from Wisbech in the north, to the villages just north of Royston in the south. In the east, it takes in the town of Newmarket and in the west, the new town of Cambourne. At the centre of the county is the city of Ely with its majestic cathedral.
There are areas where guiding flourishes and others that guiding is only just beginning to reach. But despite the differences of landscape and people, we all have one thing in common, and that is an enthusiasm for what guiding can do both for the girls and the adult volunteers that make up the membership of Girlguiding Cambridgeshire East.
We are proud of our ability to puts girls and young women in the lead; offering a choice of activities that are aceesible and relevant to today's girls, giving our young members the opportunity to speak out and have their voices heard, all withing a cherished, girl-only space. As Girlguiding UK continues to celebrate its Centenary year (2009-10), our county is planning to celebrate in style, with a Big Day Out at Newmarket Racecourse, a county camp and many other events planned.
If you are reading this as an ex – Rainbow, Brownie, Guide or Senior Section member, or as someone who has never been involved in the past, why not make this Centenary year the time when you get involved in the guiding adventure?
